GGSK College aims to provide a rich educational experience for ALL its pupils in a caring, secure and supportive environment. In particular, the college seeks to ensure that each pupil will leave as a confident, educated and honourable person.

For parents and students alike, G.G.S.K. College is a place of opportunity and encouragement. This is as true of the curriculum as it is for every aspect of life. We believe that school is above else a place of learning and our aim in the classroom is for all pupils to reach their full potential. This can only be achieved in a school where there are high expectations both in behaviour and standard of work.

We encourage all pupils to take pride in their work. We provide extra help for those with learning difficulties with additional teaching support during lessons and offer a variety of extra tuition classes after school hours, Clubtimes and weekends and even in holidays-especially Easter and Summer School for those who want or need extra study sessions.

Throughout each stage of the National Curriculum, all pupils are encouraged to seek for the highest level of attainment. They enjoy the benefits of a balanced curriculum led by skilled, experienced and highly qualified staff. Your son or daughter is encouraged to be self-reliant and to become responsible members of any society in which they find themselves in the future.

THE COLLEGE ENVIRONMENT

Set in 20 acres of prime Essex countryside, yet only 15 minutes from the well-connected Ilford area with door-to-door coach service available.

We are right beside the M11, yet still in a quiet enclave in the prosperous Chigwell area (Sir Alan Sugar is a nearby neighbour), we have a protected Nature Reserve right next to us, ideal for Science and Art visits.

At G.G.S.K. College we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and caring environment free from drugs, alcohol and bullying – problems faced by over 80% of state schools today.

We are also committed to encouraging our students to continue their education to tertiary level and thus we tailor our curriculum towards university entrance.

In an age of drugs and violence, we aim to provide peace of mind. We are a school adamant to create an environment free from the fear of bullying with our stringent Anti-Bullying Policy to ensure GGSKC is a place where the problems of harassment and fear of drugs just do not occur. Weekly Student Council Meetings, chaired by a teacher, but with elected representatives from the Student Body as well as prefects and class monitors help ensure we keep our Anti-Bullying Policy enforced and up-to-date. Representatives are elected on a termly basis in a system of Rotation to ensure fairness and that no one gains too much power!

At G.G.S.K. College we take enormous pride in the fact the our school offers your child a loving yet firm environment in which they are free to flex their young minds and muscles to become the new leaders of Britain in the 21st Century.

We are constantly looking at new ways to inspire and teach our children. New technology is always brought into our classrooms with many neighbouring schools looking to us for guidance and training.

Teachers are regularly sent on training courses in central London and beyond to ensure we keep abreast of all the latest developments in the education system. We have teacher meetings after school every Tuesday and Thursday - something most schools would have only once a month.

We ensure small class sizes so each child receives the care and attention he/she needs to achieve his/her full potential.

GGSKC’s School Curriculum

At GGSK College, we follow the National Curriculum, but we lay emphasis on the full personality development of the individual learner through a vast range of subjects and extra-curricular activities. By doing this, we try to prepare our learners to fully integrate the world of work as real and healthy professionals.

We enter students when we feel they are ready to do well - not by their age as the State school system rigidly applies - thus, we have many 14 year olds who are experienced GCSE students.

FLEXIBLE APPROACH

Our current Year 8 and Year 9 classes are already studying G.C.S.E. standard work in their Mathematics, English and Science lessons - that's two to three years earlier than most State schools. Many start their GCSE coursework in Year 8 so that they complete numerous subjects at least one year early in Year 10 which enables a great deal of students to finish Year 11 with up to 15 GCSEs or equivalent with many starting ASLevels in Year 11 - helping them achieve that elusive university place amongst stiff competition.

Primary children will also learn a Modern European Language, from Spanish, French, or German, alongside the Asian Language usually spoken at home
( eg.Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and Tamil.) These can be learned all the way through to A Level standard as part of the curriculum. We have had some Primary students achieving A* in their GCSE Punjabi for example.

At G.G.S.K. College, our children are formally monitored and assessed every three weeks to evaluate progress. Close contact is maintained with parents to ensure the child is aiming towards the high standards we set for them. Longer exams are administered every half-term. theschoolassess

We also realise that your child’s education should not merely consist of academic studies alone, but we also concentrate on his/her personal development into the kind of men and women we can all be proud of and lead the way into a more challenging future.G.G.S.K. College strictly adheres to the National Curriculum, from Nursery and Key Stage One right through to G.C.S.E. level and Sixth Form.

As well as the core subjects of Mathematics, English (Literature & Language), Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), the College also offers Modern Western Languages (French, Spanish, German), Eastern Languages (Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Tamil), I.C.T., History, Geography, C.D.T., Textiles, Electronics, Business Studies, Religious Education, Art and Design, Drama, Music, P.E. Statistics and Photography.
