Football: GGSKC V Langdon School (Match 3)

Our third fixture against Langdon School was for our year 9s on Thursday 24th November 2016 which resulted in 5-0 loss

This game was bitter sweet for us as I felt we played some decent football.  There was some good passing and attacking play matched by some solid defending. But it was the sheer athleticism of the majority of the Langdon players that proved too much for our players to cope with. It was obvious from the first whistle that this was probably the strongest Langdon team throughout their school. With many of their players playing for professional academies.

It was a great test for our boys as they had to adapt to the fast pace of the game. Simran (y9) battled well in the middle of the park and his skill, pace and aggression caught the eye of the oppsosing coach. Hussain (y9) making his first appearance for GGSK as a goal keeper made some outstanding saves to keep out the rentless attacking from Langdon.

After the game, myself and the Langdon coach agreed to have a penalty shoot out. As it was only a friendly we thought it would be fun for the boys to do but also give them a taste of the pressure of a penalty shoot out.

We manged to convert three of our penaties. Ranjeev (y10), Abra (y10) and Arron (y9) all converting from the penalty spot but unfortunatley Langdon managed to score 4 out of their 5 penalties.

Man of the match- Awtar (y10)

Team: year 9s- Hussain, Simran, Aman, Arron, Guru, Balesh. Year 10s- Ranjeev, Pavendeep, Abra, Awtar, Kabir, Jardavan.

All in all it was a great evening for the boys, which despite the result i belive they enjoyed. We will be arranging many more football fixtures for our boys in the near future.
