Cricket - May 6th 2016
On a sunny afternoon we travelled to Lister school for our first cricket match of the season. Newly appointed captain Aman Kalia won the coin toss and opted to bowl first.
The innings were 16 overs.
From the 16 overs we took 3 wickets.
Huusain Poonwala bowled consistently and managed to take a wicket with a LBW.
There was catch from the field from Ranjeev Assi.
An acrobatic catch from our wicket keeper Awtar Chadha after Lister’s batsman hit a ball with the inside edge. Awtars fast reflex reactions were one of the highlights of the match. Our best over came from captain Aman Kalia with only one wide ball against him and 5 dot balls. Lister made a score of 95 runs which would be hard to beat from 16 over’s.
GGSKC’s opening batsman were Simran Duncan and Eshan Azhar. Their partnership was very strong from the beginning with clear communication and reactions of each over’s batting. Simran Duncan making two 4’s, one double and four singles. Eshan Azhar making one 4 and six singles. The pair took advantage of many wide balls bowled by Lister as their wicket keeper missed catches. The runs were fast tallying up. Simran Duncan was caught out after trying to slog a slow ball bowled. An excellent catch by the Lister fielder. Next batsman in was Hussain Poonwala. Like Simran he partnered well with Eshan Azhar. As well of taking advantage of the wide balls missed by Listers wicket keeper Hussain made two 4’s and 9 singles. As the target of 95 became closer, Hussains composure proved vital as his intelligent singles and runs off wide balls lead to GGSK reaching 96 runs from only 13 over’s bowled. A GGSKC win!
