  • Royal Wedding

Students at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College started a day ahead celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. For the whole week leading to the royal wedding, the students of lower primary and upper primary engaged in varied activities ranging from learning how important the royal family plays in our society to designing Meghan’s wedding gown. The day ahead of the wedding saw the primary department resplendent in royal decorations designed by the students themselves which included royal flag bunting and posters of Harry and Meghan. Students looked their best in their gorgeous attires and were treated to a lavish spread of foods, savoury snacks and delicacies from sandwiches and cakes to fresh fruit and cream. It was a day of great excitement and the celebration made it a very memorable experience for children, teaching them the values of British culture and tradition.

Match report. (A level/ Year 11 GGSK WHU)

GGSK West ham football team took to the field for their first football fixture of the year against another West ham foundation team from Redbridge.

In a cagey first ten minutes, Redbridge WHU took the lead after a well worked attack. This goal allowed Redbridge WHU to grow in confidence which lead to wave after wave of attacking play. This resulted in them scoring another two goals by the 30 minute mark.

GGSK WHU battled well in the middle of the field, but Redbridge WHU who train every day, showed there fitness levels were much higher as they were able to run beyond our defenders consistently. It was no surprise when they managed to score another goal just before half time. GGSK WHU found themselves 4-0 down at half time.

Second half kicked off and GGSK WHU started strong. Keeping themselves compact and not allowing Redbridge to run freely through them down the middle. This resistance proved effective as GGSK WHU were able to counter attack. Dylan, playing up front was able to pounce on balls played over the top. He gave the Redbridge WHU defence a tough game with his relentless running and aggressive play. Another counter attack from GGSK WHU lead to our first goal. After some strong defending from the Redbridge WHU defenders, the ball dropped invitingly to Kavi 20 yards away from the goal and with a neat, well placed volley he was able to lob the Redbridge WHU keeper. 4-1.

As the minutes went on, fitness became an issue for GGSK WHU who train two times a week. Redbridge WHU took advantage of this and were able to score another 2 more goals before the final whistle. 6-1 loss for GGSK WHU

Team: Harjodh, Jeevan, Dylan, Kavi, Ranjeev, Abrar, Harry, Kabir, Jaymin, Avtar, Garrinder, Sherry
